CSI: NEW YORK
“Danny
Messer” (Carmine
Giovinazzo)
Third Grade Detective Danny Messer brings his Staten Island routes to
the New York City Crime Lab. Growing up in a family under surveillance,
Danny formulated his own set of hybrid ethics, blending the world of
law-breakers with the world of lawmakers.
Mac personally selected Danny to join his team, an honor and
responsibility that Danny attempts to live up to every day.

When a serious back injury sidelined Carmine Giovinazzo in college, his
dreams of becoming a professional baseball player were put aside and he
turned to acting. He appeared in short and independent films before
getting his break in the pilot episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” In
1997, he left his native New York to try his luck in Los Angeles.
Since then he has appeared in a variety of roles on both television and
the big screen. His film credits include “Black Hawk Down,” “The Red
Zone,” “Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss,” “For Love of the Game,” “The Big
Brass Ring” and the upcoming “In Enemy Hands.”
His television credits include guest-starring roles in “The Guardian”
and “CSI:New York,” both on CBS, as well as “UC:
Undercover” and “Providence.”
Giovinazzo's role as a CSI investigator with a long history of family in
law enforcement ironically mirrors his family's careers since both his
father and sister were NYPD officers and his brother-in-law was a
detective assigned to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
When not acting, Giovinazzo pursues his other passions -- painting,
poetry and playing guitar. For the past few years, he has been writing a
film for an ensemble cast titled “The Brink of Black.”
Giovinazzo was born and raised in New York and resides in Los Angeles.
His birth date is August 24th.
