Guest Starring; Edward Furlong
Mac and Stella arrive at the scene of a crime to find a bartender dead
and a security guard as the only witness. The guard says that the
murderer took cash from the register before he left. He is identified as
a black male in a green sweatshirt. Hours later, Hawkes wearing a green
sweatshirt and carrying the same amount of money stolen from the bar is
arrested. Gun-shot residue is found on Hawkes’ hand and the victim’s
prints are all over the money. Stella and Mac’s team is pulled from the
case.
Across town, Stella and Danny find a deceased black male inside of a
peep show booth in Times Square. Stella notes that the victim has fresh
track marks on his body and a green stain on his back. Back at the lab,
Sid notes that the victim’s cause of death is an overdose from heroin
mixed with fentanyl. Gun-shot residue is found in the victim’s nasal
cavity. Fresh injection marks are found on his arm, but neither Stella
nor Danny found a tie off near the body. Later Stella realizes how the
gun-shot residue got onto Hawkes’ person. The night before the murder
Hawkes had been test firing guns. In prison, Hawkes is greeted by
nemesis Shane Casey who alludes to framing him. Hawkes confesses to Mac
that just before he was arrested a male with dark glasses and a hat
bumped into him at the newsstand and poured coffee on him. Hawkes makes
the connection of Shane putting the money in his sweatshirt. Meanwhile,
Shane sends a note that alerts Mac to meet him in a hotel lobby. Back at
the peep show shop, the owner hands Danny a necklace that was left next
to the booth that the victim was killed in which is later tied to
Shane’s deceased brother. Shane tells Mac that he holds the key to
Hawkes’ freedom however for Mac to attain that he will need to prove his
brother’s innocence. When Shane requests that Danny meet with him
because of his past experiences with his brother, the team wonders
whether they are sending their colleague into a dangerous situation or
if Danny can reason with Shane to set his co-worker free.
Meanwhile, Mac upsets Peyton when he chooses to keep their relationship
an office secret.
