CSI:New YorkSeason 3 - Episode 24 - Snow Day
Teleplay by Peter M. Lenkov & Pam Veasey
Detective Flack and a Tac Team take down a gang of drug dealers
unloading 900 kilos of cocaine from trucks. After an insane gunfight, in
which Flack had to shoot a suspect, they manage to take the rest of the
gang alive. The leader of the gang, Gavin Whaley, turns up already dead
stuffed into the dashboard of a truck. Mac finds fine metal shavings
near parts of the trucks cut open with torches. A .50 caliber rifle is
found at the scene, apparently used to kill Whaley. Danny and Lindsay
wake up in bed together after a wild, drunken night- both surprised and
happy. Danny takes Lindsay’s earlier shift so she can sleep off the
hangover. Back at the lab, Dr. Hawkes and Flack process the body of the
man Flack killed. He has a strange Celtic tattoo apparently used by new
gangs in Hell’s Kitchen. His prints do not match those on the .50
caliber, nor do any of the men arrested at the crime scene. The cocaine
is delivered to the lab so Hawkes can process core samples. Danny offers
to Mac that he had switched shifts with Lindsay, so Mac sends him out to
process the crime scene. Peyton has a gift for Mac- a ticket to go with
her to London. As he thinks about her offer they both start smelling a
gas leak. CSI is quickly evacuated except for Hawkes left to load the
coke into the Vault and Mac and Stella trying to extinguish and open
flame. Danny arrives at the earlier crime scene only to be attacked by 2
armed henchmen. Danny joins Adam and 2 uniformed cops as hostages. Gang
members, dressed as Gas Company techs, enter the lab. Their leader is a
very Irish bloke named Colin Gunn. Mac and Stella realize that all
communication lines to the building have been cut and the gas leak is
fake- these men have come for the coke. The men get the .50 rifle from
ballistics because its armor piercing rounds will open the vault. Just
as Hawkes seals the vault, one of the gang members arrives. Hawkes
notices the matching Celt tattoo and that the man’s gas indicator reads
all clear- he knows something is up and heads back to his lab to hide.
Danny gets filled in by Adam that he was tortured to give up his Crime
Lab badge and passwords. Danny tells Adam to get the sulfuric acid out
of his kit. Danny creates a diversion that gets him beat to a pulp.
Danny is forced to call in the hostage situation- it seems the entire
NYPD shows up at the crime scene. Mac and Stella watch as the gang make
their preparations. They notice the instant message network is still
working in the building and communicate with Hawkes. Realizing they are
not alone, 2 gang members start searching the building. Mac manages to
disarm one man when he accidentally shoots his fellow criminal. Stella
ties the man up while Mac rigs the room with a laser tripped, homemade
pipe-bomb. Mac sends the dead guy down the elevator to Hawkes with
instructions to find the bullet. NYPD Swat teams now surround the
warehouse crime scene as Flack negotiates with the hostage takers.
Stella, Hawkes and Mac work quickly to use fingerprints from the lab and
evidence from the crime scene to identify the gang. They match the
bullet to a murder of FBI Agent Broadbent who was killed six months
earlier investigating and IRA terrorist living in NY. Gunn’s
fingerprints are on the .50 rifle used to kill the mob boss. Mac
announces over the intercom he’s going to bring down Gunn. Gunn has now
broken the vault and loaded the cocaine- they pull the fire alarm and
dress in Fire Department gear to make their escape. Stella steals the
coke in the elevator. Hawkes block their escape in the parking garage.
Mac goes to hunt down Gunn. Det. Flack and the SWAT team are about to
storm the building when Danny squirts the acid into one of the gang
member’s eyes, disarms him and shoots the other one. Flack and company
quickly realize it was all a set up and rush back to the lab. Mac and
Gunn play a deadly cat and mouse game through torrents of sprinkler
water- finally ending in a hand to hand struggle near the pipe bomb.
Gunn goes for a rifle, trips the laser and is killed instantly. Flack
and the SWAT team return to find Mac, Stella and Mac have saved the day.
