A young couple finds the body of Fiona Chisolm, a successful owner of a posh hotel, dead in the “Winter Wonderland” created for her establishment. The CSIs come to find out that Fiona was not well liked and known for being mean, so she had many enemies. At the scene they find a broken chain and a partial bloody print on Fiona’s collarbone.

Mac and Danny are called to a scene where a girl in her late teens was found dead, smashed between a taxi and a school bus. The girl is wearing a nightgown, has a gold star on her forehead and the name “Wendy” painted on her chest. Mac deduces that the victim’s body was on top of the bus, and when the driver abruptly stopped, the body fell into the gap between the vehicles. On the bus they find an empty bottle of tequila and a baseball cap with blood on the bill.

Sid determines Fiona’s cause of death to be a frozen heart, but she was also stabbed and burnt. The print on her collarbone turned out to be from her dog, Otto, who is currently missing. The broken chain could have been from his leash. Later, the CSIs discover that liquid nitrogen would have caused the chain to snap and would have frozen Fiona’s heart. Liquid nitrogen was used in the Winter Wonderland to produce snow. The shape and size of Fiona’s wound is also the same size as the nozzle for the nitrogen tanks. They later find one of the nozzles bent and caked with blood.

Sid determines that the girl died due to a wound in her abdomen, and he believes that a hook killed her. Adam also finds a partial print on the gold star found on her forehead, and learns that the hat found on the bus belongs to the victim’s brother, Michael Wright, a high-powered broker. Michael identifies her as Leslie Wright. Meanwhile, Mac discovers that her body must have fallen from the third story of a building. Because of the childlike items found near the victim, the CSIs begin searching schools. In one classroom Mac notices a faint blood spatter on a mobile. The school’s security confirms that the classroom had been broken into, but nothing had been taken. Mac and Danny find evidence of blood having been cleaned off of the classroom’s floor. Danny also finds a copy of Peter Pan and Wendy with numbers written inside of it, and Mac finds a bloody ice hook in a trashcan. Adam finds a hallucinogen called Foxy in Leslie’s system, and Danny discovers that the numbers written in the book are text numbers, which yield a time and place to meet. Danny and Mac go to the meeting place and find a Foxy party in full swing. They question a young man named Bryce, whom they think is responsible for Leslie’s murder, and he insists that he dropped the ice hook early in the night and that anyone could have picked it up after that.
Dr. Hawkes discovers that the burns on Fiona’s body are consistent with materials used to roast chestnuts. One chestnut vendor, Felix Hall, had had his license pulled by Fiona. When the CSIs confront him, he admits to shoving her, and then she fell on top of the nitrogen nozzle, killing her. He moved her body in his vending cart.

Later, Adam finds that someone other than Michael wore the baseball cap. A man that works for him, Tyler Bennet, had been wearing it. Tyler had had sex with Leslie while she was high and he wasn’t. Once she sobered up, she tried to get away from him. In a fit of rage, Tyler grabbed the ice hook and killed her.
